The IHP Research project at One Constitution Wharf involved renovating an existing space to create a specialized Audiology suite. This project was both unique and complex, with several key elements that set it apart:
- Acoustic Walls: The design called for walls with up to six layers of drywall, achieving high Sound Transmission Class (STC) ratings to ensure optimal soundproofing in the audiology environment.
- STC-Rated Doors: The custom doors, integrated with the walls and millwork, were designed with a 55 STC rating to maintain the necessary acoustic performance throughout the suite.
- Sound Booth: A large sound booth required additional steel reinforcements to meet both structural and acoustic requirements, ensuring it could support the demands of the space.
- Expedited Schedule: The project was completed under a tight schedule, requiring quick decision-making and efficient collaboration to ensure timely completion without compromising quality.
